In December 2012, the strategic goal of “becoming national central city and reviving Wuhan city“ was set at 12th Wuhan National Party Congress. Based on the goal, Donghu High-tech Zone developed the planning guideline which is to enhance the central function of the demonstration zone, fully realize the land value and establish a fashion high-tech new city.

The planning area is a north-south strip of land covering 254.4 ha. The design principles are to create a 3D transportation system to improve regional traffic; to integrate the resource of municipal infrastructure, transportation and surrounding underground space; to design underground corridor system along the road; to create open continuous and humanized public space; private underground space and public space are well connected and will be developed at different construction phases. We analyzed and re-organized the existing concept and offered an optimized design for the underground space, landscape and traffic planning.
