The new central station building in Algiers essentially consists of two parts:

the light roof construction making reference to urban development and the platform, situated at a height of 6.2 m, accommodating the station’s functional areas.

The roof structure resembling a tent was borrowed from the cultural context of the country. It spans 11 station platforms at a height of 25 m. Thus, the new railway building becomes an Algiers’ landmark. The platform spans the wide lane of the track harp and connects the adjacent districts as a publicly accessible zone offering the city a chance to expand towards the water.
